"Respectful, Responsible, and Safe"
A mantra of the school district is exhibiting responsibility, safety, and respectful in the classroom. The expectations of the classroom will require you to exhibit these expectations in the classroom to maximize the amount of time of learning that occurs in the class. Students who follow these expectations will be awarded Patriot Bucks and Class Dojo Points. I have put together some videos of what these expectations look like at various times in the classroom and given clear expectations.
Entering the Classroom*
This video demonstrates how you need to enter the classroom when the bell rings for your next class.
Grace Period: During the first week of school, you will be reminded how to enter the classroom and asked to practice this procedure if done incorrectly. Consequences: After the second week of school, you will receive consequences for not following the expectations thereafter. |
At the start of class, which means when you enter the classroom, I expect the following to occur in the classroom in order.

Classroom Rewards
Throughout the school year, you will receive various opportunities to receive school-wide rewards for exhibiting positive behavior. See the Herman Intermediate Handbook, passed out at the beginning of the year, for more information on the school-wide rewards for students. The following are a list of rewards that are passed out in class for exemplary behavior:
- Class Dojo Points - During independent work and group work, you are given a weekly grade based on their behavior in the classroom that goes under the category of "Collaboration". See "Class Programs" for more information.
- Patriot Bucks - This is blue paper money that is passed out by the Herman Intermediate Staff for cooperating with teachers, lending a helping hand, and/or behaving maturely in the classroom. Prizes can be purchased at the student store after school. Drawings are done at times throughout the year, allowing you to win gift cards to eateries in the surrounding area.
